I believe that I have met expectations in all parts of my project, and that I have exceeded expectations in many areas such as some of my artifacts and my overall presentation. A lot of thought was put into all parts of this project. I wanted to show what I could do with this website for myself more than anyone else, as I have never made a webpage before.
In particular, some of my favorite parts of this webpage are: my collage, trivia, and layout of my essay. In my collage, I figured out a way to do something different, that most people probably did not do in their webpage. I also proved to myself that I could figure out how to do things that I had seen somewhere else, but on my own. I had a lot of fun making the trivia questions, and I think that I came up with some cool things for people to think about. The essay was one of my favorite parts because it did not need to look like the normal English class essay. I got to format it different ways, and add pictures and videos to help make points.
The most challenging part of this project was working with the internet. While the internet is great, it can also be a pain. Sometimes my home internet was running slow, or I could not find the pictures I wanted. On the site to make my webpage, it was difficult to master how to make things look the way I want them to. However, I overcame these obstacles and figure it out.
Computer lab time was very valuable for me. I used all of the time I was given in class; however I did most of the project outside of class. A few days after being assigned this project, I started to work on the computers during lunch every day. I found this very useful, and I got a lot done. However, I still had to work on some of this project at home as well.
I loved reading about all of the cool, interesting things that I did not know about the Olympics before I stated to research it. It surprised me that I could find quite a bit of information about the Ancient Olympic Games., including information about specific athletes. It was also interesting to compare the ancient athletes to the modern-day athletes. While I looked for my collage pictures, I loved seeing how the Modern Olympic Games evolved over the years into what they are today.
The Olympic website was my best source of information. Not only did it have information on all of the Modern Olympic Games, but it also had the Ancient Olympic Games, and pictures that I could use. It was nice to find a lot of good, trustworthy information on one website.
This research project is not only the complete opposite of most research projects I have done, but it is my favorite by far. While making a website and including certain elements is difficult, it is fun to see it all come together. I like this project because it
allowed us as students to show other things that we can do, more than just writing. We certainly did write a lot, but we got to show creativity in the artifacts and the overall layout of the website. I am so glad that we had the chance to do this project over a "normal" research essay. I have also come away with the knowledge of how to create a website, which is very important in today's world.
